  • Nikolai II Alexandrovich Romanov was born on May 18, 1868. He was born in Tsarskoye Selo (modern day Pushkin) a district of St. Petersburg. Nicholas II was the eldest son of the current ruler so he was heir to the crown of Russia. His father would later have a great influence on Nikolai II promoting the autocratic government.

  • His father Alexander III of Russia was heir to the throne at the time of Nikolai's birth and acquired the throne on May 27, 1883. Nikolai II's mother was Maria Feodoravna and before the marriage of Alexander III was known as Princess Dagmar of Denmark. They were both married on November 9, 1866.
  • Ideas/beliefs
  • I'm not that big with this tsar stuff, my father is smart so I'll just follow his work!
  • Nikolai II was taught by private tutors in school. He enjoyed studying foreign languages and history. When he turned 19 he attended military service and gained passion for the military and less of politics. On May 26, 1896 he was crowned tsar due to his father falling ill from terminal kidney disease.

  • Nikolai II was known for his poor leadership as tsar of Russia. His poor leadership would spark the birth of a social government after the removal of him. In World War 1 he tried to confront the Germans at the border of Russia ultimately being defeated as Russian peasants were underprepared and underequipped.

  • Nikolai II continued his father conservative polices in Russia. Nikolai wanted peace between European countries so he went for the Hague Peace Conference to ensure the peace. During the Bloody Sunday disaster peasants were protesting their dangerous working conditions with low pay, Nikolai II felt sympathy and agreed with them but a soldier shot into the protesting crow ultimately nicknaming the tsar Nicholas the Bloody.
  • After the Russian Revolution a civil war took place. The Romanov family was sent to a isolated located in Yekaterinburg. Due to the civil war taking place Lenin was scared of the Romanovs being set free so on July 17, 1918 they were executed by assassins ending the Romanov dynasty that lasted 300 years.
