- Maya and her family moved from Kazakhstan to the US to start a new life but the more time they spend there, the more they must learn to adapt to their new ways of life in the US.
- Climax
- Maya receives a permission slip to go to the spring fling dance but is called to the office to help translate for her dad because her brother got into a fight at school. Maya's dad learning about the fight made him very angry.
- Falling Action
- Maya's father catches Maya getting held by her crush Daniel Klein and proceeds to get very angry at her. When she arrives home her mother is told and gets very angry as well.
- Resolution
- While the drama in the house is slowly calming down, Nurzhan helps Maya and asks their parents for permission to go to the spring fling dance. Their parents say yes on the condition that Nurzhan has to go as a chaperone.
- Please sign this for Maya.
- Maya's mother gives Maya a bracelet that symbolizes her mother accepting the fact that things in the US are different from back in Kazakhstan.

- Maya goes to the dance and dances with her crush Daniel Klein while Nurzhan leaves to give them some space and time.
