Lesson 8 Slaves and Settlers

- The West Africans got sold and had to work super hard in farms, towns, and more. It was a very hard life for them. The slaves did not even get paid. They had to pick cotton and fish too. It was very hard work the slave owners hurt them a lot.

- The Slaves got sold at a slave auction. The slaves will get sold to people who force them to do jobs that they do not get payed. The slaves were put in to chains and brought to a place where they sell the slaves for money. Sometimes they even have to leave their families.
- Sometimes the slaves can escape from their slave owners. Other times if they escape and the slave owners catch them they will get killed. Some of the slaves escape and come back to free other slaves. The slave owners are not gracious if the slaves escape. They are not nice.
- go to sleep to get up early tomorrow
- The slave owners were so mean to the slaves. They made them do their work for them for no money. They killed and hurt a lot of them. If the slaves ran away they would kill them. They would make them do hard work.
- The slave owners would make the slaves pick cotton and farm. They would make them do more too. They would make the slaves work all day and all night. The slave owners do not care about the slaves. The slaves would only get a break for a tiny bit.
- They would make them sleep on hard mats and sometimes even tents on the hard ground. The slaves would have barely any time to sleep because their owners would make them work. The slave owner would take the slaves away from their home and family. They would get the slaves from slave auctions and other things. After that they would take them home to work for them.
