- "Alem, I would like you to know that everything that your mother and I have done for you has been for a reason, just remember that you should never stop fighting for peace."
- Alem there is nothing to worry to worry about we are the refugee council and have come to look after you since your father has left the country. My name is Mariam and her name is Pamela. We will just have to ask you a few questions then we will try and get you an Appel so you can stay in the country.
- Alem had to go to court to see if the judge would accept his Application to stay in the country. The judge rejects the application for asylum on the basis that there are millions of Ethiopians and Eritreans unaffected by the war.
- Alems appeal gets denied and he goes and lives with his foster parents Mr and Mrs Fitzgerald and there daughter Ruth. Alem was So angry but didn't want to make a bad impression of himself to The Fitzgerald's.
- Later that night Alem received a letter from his father saying that his mother had been found killed on the border of Ethiopia. Alem was heart broken, he immediately burst into tears.
- A few weeks later Alem had a surprise knock at the door His father was standing there. Alem was so happy that they immediately hugged each other. Later that month alem and a big group of protester gatherd it the strrets and argued that they everyone should be allowed it there country. They won.
