- Why does my balloon push up when I deflate it?
- This is a great example of Newton's Third Law!
- What's that?
- Newton's Third Law states that there is an equal and opposite re-action for every action.
- As the air in your balloon is pushed downward, the balloon is forced upward.
- So the air pushes the balloon in the opposite direction with an equal force!
- That's correct!
- Action: Air pushed down.
