- I will impose a tax on whiskey to pay off the national debt!
- HAMILTON IS SUPPOSEDLY TAXING OUR WHISKEY!!!!

- After the Revolutionary War, America had a huge debt. Known as the National Debt, which needed to be payed off. America didn't have the funds, so Alexander Hamilton had to think of ways to raise money to pay it off.
- REMOVE THE TAX!REMOVE THE TAX!REMOVE THE TAX!
- Alexander Hamilton decides to enforce the excise tax to raise money to pay off the national debt.
- STOP THIS REBELLION NOW!
- Farmers were upset at this because it was their informal form of currency. It was an economic necessity and a medium of exchange.
- This shall never happen again!
- Farmers attack Bower Hill as an act of rebellion due to anger because of the imposed excise tax.
- Washington sends militia to Pennsylvania in attempt to try and suppress the rebellion. This didn't go so well because he didn't have the power to, due to weakness of central government.
- The rebellion came to an end due to Washington's strengthened government.
