On the Sunday before His death, Jesus rode a young donkey into Jerusalem. The crowds welcomed Him by waving palm branches in the air and shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed if He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
Jesus Dies on the Cross
On Thursday, Jesus had the Last Supper with his 12 Apostles. He first washed the feet of His 12 Apostles. He then broke bread and drank wine to symbolize His body and blood. He even announces that one of the Apostles would betray Him.
Jesus Is Places in the Tomb
Jesus and three of His Apostles went to the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper. He was overwhelmed and asked God, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by." After Jesus prayed, He was betrayed by Judas and arrested.
Jesus Has Risen From the Dead
Jesus was spat on, mocked and tormented and and a crown of thorns placed on His head by the Roman Soldiers. He carried His cross to Calvary where he was nailed to the wooden cross. Jesus' last words were "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" before He died around 3 p.m.
Jesus' body was taken down from the cross by Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea and laid in a tomb. On Saturday, Jesus' tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers. When the Sabbath ended at 6 p.m, Jesus' body was ceremonially treated for burial with spices purchased by Nicodemus.
On Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Salome, and Mary the mother of James went to the tomb and saw that the large stone covering the entrance was rolled away. They then saw an angel which said "Dont be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as He said would happen"
