  • She lived With her mother in washington d.c.,her father passed when she was still a small child She was born in 1879
  • She would teach black woman more than just domestic skills and advocated for greater civil rights and woman rights
  • She was part of the national baptist convention and she had a backing from he the baptist to build her school.
  • She had funding through getting donations from children and woman from her neighborhood
  • When she died in 1961 the school she built was renamed after her name Nannie helen burroughs school for women
