- Carmen gets sick with Covid-19 from working in a deli. Many customers refused to wear masks, spat in her face, and made her job a living nightmare. She is pretty positive that she got it from one of these customers.
- Carmen comes home to her cramped family home where she is unable to isolate propoerly. She lives with her grandparents, parents, and younger brother. Although it's cramped, it's the only way to save money and support each other.
- Her parents end up getting sick with Covid because Carmen is unable to isolate herself properly. Carmen is anxious that she'll get her grandparents sick too.
- How are we going to cover our bills with three people not working?
- Her boss cares more about his business surviving than the safety of his employees so carmen goes back to work knowing she may very well get Covid again.
- Carmen, now anxious more than ever, tries her best to sanitize herself immediately when coming home. She is sad that she cannot be close to her family while working at her current job. She wishes she could work AND be safe at the same time.
