- When the ships get out of the wind they reach the land of the Laestrygones and they throw boulders at their ships and only one ship survives. This is another test because they destroy all but one Odysseus' ships.
- The last of Odysseus' men and him land at the island of Circe. They go to greet her but they drug the men and turn them to pigs. Odysseus convinces her to turn them back but they are not knocked of of the trance until 1 year later when she tells them to go to the land of the dead to see the prophecy of the ghost of Tiresias.
- Odysseus goes to the ghost and makes a sacrifice. Tiresias then tells him about the trouble ahead and tells him he can get past them but he will have to control his men and himself. This is a Ordeal in a way for if he did not make offerings the ghosts could of attacked but he survives and now knows how to get home.
- Circe tells Odysseus of Scylla and Charybdis. She tells him of the troubles of the pass ahead and how to get pass them. She now turns form foe to some what of a mentor.
- The ship passes the sirens safely with no casualties. but now they must make the choice between Charybdis and Scylla.
- Odysseus chooses to take the route of Scylla. She takes 6 men. This was a big moment because now they just had to go past Helios and then they will be able to go home
