  • Hello. Im Dr. Laken. I am a scientist working on the discovery of the Kennewick man. I will tell you all about his discovery and why his remains should stay with us.
  • Hi! I'm Jane Yolen and I'm a news reporter hoping to learn all about this controversy! I can't wait!
  • Recently, a man found a skull in a body of water. Studies on the skull have shown that it is over 9000 years old. They kept looking for more fragments of the body, and finally had a almost-complete skeleton. They decided to name it Kennewick man.
  • They examined the body and discovered that the man was about 45 years old. The shape of the skull made it look like he was originally from a part of the Pacific. This discovery lead people to believe that the Native Americans were not the first people in America.
  • They also discovered that the man must have had broken ribs, and there was something lodged in his body - an arrowhead! This was strange because at that time, they were believed to not even been created yet.
  • A lot more research is still needed to find out more about Kennewick man, and to this day, scientists are researching him.
  • I think that maybe some Native Americans or a tribe could have been there, and that they got into a fight, and that is how the spearhead got into him.
  • Well, me and other scientists are planning to sue because we rightfully found Kennewick Man and his remains and he is a vital piece of history that can be used for research. If he gets buried, then all that will be lost.
  • And finally, where do you think the injuries came from?
  • Some scientists think that what the Native Americans say could be true. Others think that the Pacific came to the Americas through skin boats or that there was another land bridge, and they came through there.
  • The Native Americans believe that Kennewick man is their ancestors, so they want to properly bury the skeleton. They have been fighting and saying that with proven DNA, that they should keep Kennewick Man's remains and bury him in his rightful place.
  • Native Americans have the right to claim skeletons over 500 years old, but the science proves that the body is not Native American.
  • Ok. The law and claims make sense. What do you an other scientists think of the manner?
  • Ahh! What happened to Kennewick Man.
  • THE END
  • Finally! Im free again. Come here Juco!
