- A 45-year-old Chinese patient is coming for a Chest x-ray
- good; morning sir. i am the radiographer;Are you the 45 year old Chinese patient coming in for a chest x-ray?

- I must find a way to communicate to the Chinese patient(I need to confirm his identity )

- I have the correct patient, patient has nodded their head based on my translation message

- The patient does not understand any of my spoken language . I (the radiographer) need to find a way to communicate with him, it will not be verbally obviously. it will be through google translator; on my laptop and demonstration. I; will translate everything I need to get across to him in Chinese through google translator
- I am demonstrating what I expect the Chinese patient to do
- The first thing I do is I use hand movements to tell the patient to follow me to my laptop. By my laptop I will type in the greeting and question I asked him on to google translator to be translated to Chinese and make sure to add nod your head if he is the patient in the translation message and point so he can read it
- the chinese patient now knows what to do and does exactly what i demonstrated
- Now it is time to explain the procedure to the patient, i will do that in Chinese on the laptop through google translator. i will make sure to tell him in the translation to look at me afterwardsso i can demonstrate how he should lay against the Bucky and how he should position himself for the chest x ray
- the chest x ray is complete, i come back in and use my hands to tell him to dress up

- The Chinese patient has read the instructions successfully on the laptop via Chinese translation and is now watching me demonstrate what I expect of him to do and he knows that I will leave the room once he is in position so I can take the x -ray since it was stated in the translation message previously when I was explaining the procedure to him
- The Chinese patient is positioned for his chest x ray and i am leaving the room so i can release the x ray in my control room, the chinese man is already aware of that from the translated chinese message, therefore he is not surprised or confused on why i am leaving the room
- The chest x-ray is complete ,i enter the room i am not allowed to give the Chinese patient a diagnosis. i then give him instructions on where to go to next by typing it into my laptop then translating it to Chinese for him to understand, then pointing to the screen so he reads it, then taking him there myself incase he struggles because of his language barrier
