- The Sky Tree
- I will try my best dear.. I'll be right back!
- I'm almost at my last stages.. but my dream tells it all. I need fruit from the top of that tree!
- OH NO!!!!
- Sky Land was the name of where all the people lived. Right in the middle was the great Sky Tree, where all of them found the provisions they needed to eat.
- AHHHHHHH!
- We gpt you Aataentsic!
- There was an old chief and his wife, Aataentsic, that lived in a longhouse near the great tree. The chief became sick, and there wasn't anything to cure him. After having a dream, he needed his wife to get him fruit from the top of the tree.
- How.. beautiful.
- After trying to get the fruit, she struck the tree in half, and it fell into a hole that opened through Sky Land.
- O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
- After going back to the chief to tell him what happened, she threw herself into the hole to get the tree back. Turtle saw her as she fell and called all the animals to come up with a solution that they could do. They all decided to pack up soil on the turtle's back to bring her up.
- Aetaentsic was then laid down and settled upon the land of the new earth. All the pieces of the great sky tree had come beside her went back to its root in the ground.
- With this folktale, it represents the moral of sacrifice. There are some circumstances where you might need to give up something, in this case, her life for her husband and the tree, you can find yourself getting something better in return.
