- A plane explodes over the island and a dead parachuter falls over the island into the jungle. It later gets found by Sam and Eric and everyone meets up and they tell the about it. They think they saw the beast and Jack suggest they hunt for the beast. Though Piggy rejects the idea and tries to talk since he has the conch, but Jack states the rules don’t matter anymore. He tells Piggy to stay with the littluns while the rest of them hunt. They go on the hunt and come back and Ralph insist they should light the fire on the island back.
- Chapter 9- A View to a Death
- They start to get used to their hygiene not being the best. Ralph starts to feel as though he’ll never leave the island but Simon tells him that he feels as though he’ll make it home safe. Meanwhile the hunters go hunting for a boar, Ralph ends up hitting the boar as it still runs away. Changing his thinking of hunting. They want to continue hunting but Ralph realizes they can’t leave piggy with the kids without telling him. So Simon left to go get him. As they continue into late night they end up seeing the body of the parachute and it started moving due to the wind. The kids end up running away from it.
- Chapter 10- The Shell and Glasses
- Ralph tells Piggy that they saw the beast and they suggests from the hunters to handle it. Ralph reminds them that they’re just some boys with sticks. Jack tells the hunters that Ralph just insulted him and called a vote. He didn’t win but so he runs away. They start to talk around a fire and they discus how most of the kids want to be around Jack instead of Ralph Jacks mission is to go hunt the beast so him and roger go ou hunting. They tell the others they’ll have a feast and invite the other boys, while this happens they’ll go steal fire from the other camp. Before they leave the boys leave a pigs head on a stick. Jack invites the boys to a feast while Simon goes into the woods dehydrated. He ends up finding the pig head and on the stick and it begins speaking to him.
- Chapter 11- Castle Rock
- The pig head or “ Lord of The Flies” continues speaking to Simon. Threatening him and telling him how the other boys would kill him, Simon faints due to dehydration and when he wakes up he starts climbing the mountain. As he climbs he finds that the “beast” is actually the dead parachuter, he realizes he needs to tell everyone. It’s getting darker and darker and Piggy and Ralph still are trying to decide if they want to go to the feast. They decide to go and when they get there Jacks face is painted and the other hunters are eating and laughing. Jack orders for them to be given food and when they’re finished eating he tries to persuade more people to join his side. Ralph tries to tell him that he’s chief and reminds him of the rules made. As a storm brews the kids start dancing and chanting. As Simon finally makes it there there crawling out the woods, everyone attacks not realizing it’s him. As they think it’s the beast. The storm ends up blowing away the parachuter and Simon.
- Piggy and Ralph realize that only them, Sam and Eric, and some little’uns are the only ones left on their side. Ralph tries to bring up Simon to Piggy but the doesn’t want to talk about it saying it was a mistake. Everyone on this side is dancing around what happened with Simon not wanting to discuss it. While this is happening Jack and his crew have made a camp on castle rock, Jack tries to get some boys to hunt while some stay back to watch the camp. As they believe the beast is still alive. At night they believe the boys are attacking them and end up fighting them off though they are only hurting each other. They try to find out why the “hunters” would attack them and come to the conclusion that it was for Piggy’s glasses.
- Ralph’s group realizee they can’t start a fire without the glasses and call a meeting. They decide to go try and talk to get the glasses back. First they suggest they clean themselves up so they don’t look like savages. It turns into chaos as Ralph calls Jack a thief and they all start fighting. Piggy starts a speech though as he’s talking roger lifts a boulder with a stick and it crushes the conch and throws Piggy off Castle Rock as his body washes away.Ralph’s runs as he barely escapes.
