- I have already acted. I have sent my brother in law Creon to ask Apollo what we should do to end this horrible plague.

- Oedipus please save us like you did with the Sphinx. This plague is destroying our city and killing our chlidren.
- Oh great Apollo how do I save my city from this horrible plague. We have already suffered so much please show us some mercy and tell me how to dissolve the problem.
- Oh Creon your problems go a lot farther then just this plague. You must drive out the thing that defiles this land which you have fed and cherished before it is too late.
- Apollo told me that to stop the plague we must drive out the thing that defiles this land before it is too late.
- It means we must kill the murderer of former King Lauis.

- Apollo said that the killer is still here in Thebes
- How would we find the murderer if Lauis was killed so long ago?
- Creon: Lauis was traveling to the oracle but never returned home. Everyone that was traveling with him was killed except for one who ran away in fear. He is unable to remeber anything that happened though.
- We the chorus beg the gods to please show a little mercy to our city. We have already faced so much suffering. Children are dying and left unburied and unmourned. Please move these wars you reak on our lands somewhere else as we can no longer take anymore.
