  • In the year 1700 B.C.E, a man named Abraham lived in Ur, Mesopotamia. At some point according to the Torah, the Hebrew Bible, Abraham made a covenant with God. In this agreement, Canaan would belong to Abraham's descendants.
  • No, your people are staying here and not leaving.
  • Please let my people go and leave Egypt!
  • Jacob and his family moved from Caanan to Egypt because there was a lack of food in Caanan. Egypt had a larger supply of grain. They got treated very harshly by the Pharoh because they got enslaved and served for him just because they were Israelites and monotheistic.
  • Thank you god for this, I will put these commandments to good use.
  • Moses was an Israelite boy that was adopted by the Pharoh´s daughter and grew up in the Pharoh´s palace. The Exodus says that God wanted him to save his people so they are no longer slaves. Moses asked the Pharaoh to let his people go and he said no many times and then 10 horrible things happened to the Pharoah´s people. Once the 10th one struck the Pharaoh finally let the Israelites leave Egypt for good so that's what they did. This is called the Exodus.

The Pharaoh finally let them leave once the 10th plague struck which was every firstborn son was killed. The meaning of Passover is to celebrate the freedom of the Israelites from Egyptian rule.
  • The Ten Commandments are the basic ethics of Judaism. Moses received them by climbing to the top of Mountain Sinai and meeting with God. The Ten Commandments are important to Jews, Christians, and others because they believe that if they obey the rules of God that with be provided with protection and be provided with what they need.
  • The return of the Promise Land, Canaan was after Moses got the Ten Commandments, and he died before making it to the Promise Land so Joshua became the leader. They first conquered Jericho fighting with his people and they finally settled in the south and some Jews in the north.
