- The environment started of peaceful. So the birds were flying around in the huge forest, enjoying their free life and enjoying they're lives in the warm climate. They caught food and fed it to their offspring to have them perorated for the next generation. There are Five-hundred birds with large, medium, and small beaks.
- But suddenly, one day, there was a heavy snow storm that had arrived. It lasted for a few months and the amount of colored birds decreased in population size due to them having a non-adaptive trait in the enviorment, and the birds with an adaptive trait are the birds with white feathers and they are able to hide within the snow.
- the common trait was birds with white feathers. This adaptive trait is the most common because the birds with white feathers will be able to camouflage from predators such as lynxes and bears. This variation was the difference in the color of the feathers of each bird.
- organisms inherit their traits from their parents. First, the birds reproduce. As this is happening both parents give one copy of their chromosomes and genes to its ofspring. This leads to protein molecules creating the traits in the birds. in this case the offspring inherit the trait of white colored feathers from their parents in order to be able to survive and camouflage from predators that hunt for them during the snowstorm. The distribution leads to this trait becoming more common because birds with white feathers survive longer than birds with colored feathers.
- The trait of white feathered birds became more common and more adaptibe was because they are now able to camouflage due to the snow and they are now able to hide themselves within the snow. Colored featers would be spotted quickly and would be killed. Throughout generations, the white feathered birds were able to reproduce a to more now because they had survived.
- Natural selection is the process in which an individual goes through the distribution of traits within a population that changes over several generations. In my comic strip, we can see how the birds with white feathers have an adaptive trait meaning that they have a higher chance of surviving in the snow storm. The birds with the colored feathers have a lower chance of surviving because they have a non-adaptive trait, and won't be able to hide in the snow due to their feathers.
