  • Christopher Columbus led his three ships the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria out of the Spanish port of Palos and discovered America on August 3, 1492.
  • 
  • Shortly after landing, many of the island's inhabitants assembled on the beach and Columbus gave them gifts of red hats and beads. The natives intern gifted them: parrots, cotton and other goods.
  • once settled, Columbus initiated the columbian exchange. This consisted of the trading of plants, animals, and diseases between the new world, and the old world.

  • The biological and ecological impacts caused by the columbian exchange changed the fates of the Native Americans, europeans, and and even africans. Because of the many diseases brought to the new world, many of the natives died, and Many africans were forced into free labor through slavery.
  • The Columbian Exchange affected almost every society on earth, bringing destruct diseases that depopulated many cultures, and also circulating a wide variety of new crops and livestock that, in the long term, increased rather than diminished the world human population.
