  • Exposition/A Million Dreams
  • Inciting Incident/Come Alive
  • Rising Action/Rewrite the Stars Or This Is Me
  • The story starts with P.T. Barnum and Charity. Barnum was very poor growing up while Charity grew up very wealthy. Charity's parents didn't want her with someone with little class like Barnum but him and Charity fell in love. Charity moves to New York City with Barnum.
  • Climax/Tightrope or Never Enough
  • The song Come Alive is the base of Barnum's whole career. That was the first song he had ever performed. When he buys the wax museum he quickly learned that it isn't bringing in business or profit so he explains that he needs something sensational.
  • Falling Action/From Now On
  • At first, the freaks are scared to walk through the curtain. Barnum basically tells them how great and special they are and that they could do this. They eventually go out and they sing the song, This Is Me. This song just describes who they are and they are not afraid to hide it anymore.
  • Resolution/The Greatest Show
  • Jenny Lind is singing the songs TightRope and Never Is Enough. The lyrics tell of the story of love. This is the highest point in the show before all of Barnum's luck starts going downhill.
  • After Barnum having lots of luck with his shows, his luck began to fall. He is at the lowest he has ever been. His wife left and his circus burnt down. His team of freaks tell him that he gave them a place to call home with the show and that they want it back and that he cannot give up on them.
  • Barnum and Carlyle partner up and reopen the circus. They open the circus up in a tent because it was the cheapest way possible. Barnum promised his wife to spend more time with her than he did before so he passes his half of the circus over to Carlyle and retires.
