- My friend John needs my help so I need to cross town just to get to him

- That membrane can be compared to the town since you need to cross it
- This mostly remind me of facilitated diffusion

- How does me traveling to a friend remind you of biology class?

- Well the carrier is supposed to change to the shape of the ion which means it changes to your shape not to what you want
- I would say the car would be a carrier protein since it changes by the ion that goes into it before it leaves
- Isn't the car meant to change to my preference not change in I am?
- Ah ok i see, How about busses and trains what type of proteins are those then?
- Busses and trains would be channel proteins since they need a ticket for you to pass through
- Yes which means the tickets are the signals that permit you to travel to the other side of town to see John
- Just like a plane getting signaled before parking it at the airport bridge
- Yes and the molecule cannot pass through the channel if they do not get a signal
