- Hi I was cutting vegetables and cut myself I am just trying to be sure it is not something serious
- oh ok, luckily your cut isn't that deep. We have some medical students shadowing they can explain the stages of healing for you.

- Hi, I'm August I will explain the four stages of healing
- The first stage is homeostasis, which is the wound closing it's self by clotting, and no it's not a bad clot that is a clot you want so you can stop bleeding
- oh ok, what is the second stage
- The third step is proliferation which is when the wound rebuilt new tissue made up of collagen and matrix
- The second inflammation, which happens right after the injury to control bleeding and stop infections
- So for the third step is makes new replacement skin tissue? and what is the last step?
- yes basically, and the last step is called remodeling, which is when collagen is ongoing to make the tissue stronger which can take from 21 days to years. And that is all sir
