Storyboard Text

  • James is on holiday in Brazil, he has been bitten by a mosquito carrying the protist pathogen, malaria. This mosquito is a vector organism as it carries the disease from person to person.

  • A week later, which is the typical time in which symptoms of a malaria infection begin to show, James starts to feel unwell. He experiences sweats and chills, a fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.
  • James visits the doctor in Brazil, who prescribes him anti malarial drugs to treat his symptoms and further prevent infection. There is no vaccination that James can have to prevent another malaria infection in the future.
  • A few months later, James goes on holiday. He has already received anti malarial medication to use whilst on holiday.
  • To prevent him from being bitten, James is sleeping under a mosquito net and using insect repellent.
  • James is visiting Brazil on his holiday, and he is bitten by a mosquito which is carrying the protist disease, malaria. This mosquito is a vector organism as I it carries the disease and spreads it from person to person
  • To further prevent the risk of him being bitten, James is sleeping under a mosquito net and using insect repellent.
