- Ok, so what is similar about layoff and discharge, whats different?
- A discharge is the end of the employees job due to something bad happening, layoff is a number of employees who are discharged from the company due to a change in the polices.
- Changes happen when businesses expand due to consumers buying more goods/services. This cause new jobs. If Interest rate goes up then the consumers will buy less causing jobs and work hours to get cut.
- How does economic cycles affect job opportunities?

- Salary/wages are direct payments of money to employees for work ( $ per hour, day, week or month) , Benefits are compensation in forms other than direct payment (this could be insurance, vacation and retirement plans)
