- Howl had offended the Witch of the Waste. In return, she had transformed him into an old man! Out of fear, he ran away from home, trying to find a place where he could start a new.
- While searching the area he sees a stick, he picks it up hoping it'll help him walk when he notices a storm is nearing. On his way he sees Sophies moving Fortress and decides to take cover in there.
- Howl meets a FIRE DEMON Calcifer, who promises to lift the curse, if, he promises to break the contract Calcifer is on with Sophie. Michelle, an apprentice witch comes down for dinner and gratefully takes Howl in.
- Weeks later THE WITCH appears! To destroy her Rival of 10 years, Sophie.
- They Defeat the Witch! With that the contract on Calcifer and Sophie vanishes, letting Calcifer free. The spell on Howl leaves to, as the person who put the spell on him has fallen
- Howl and Sophie fall in love, buying a new house wit Michelle who continued her witch craft with Sophie. Calcifer came to visit a few times though the three lived their normal life, running the fancy dress shop that was handed down to Howl along with a spell shop.
