Storyboard Text

  • Hello everyone! Today I will be explaining about the 5 Kingdoms of Classification. Classification is to sort things into groups or categories based on their similarities
  • However, in terms of biology we classify living organisms based on their characteristics. The first person to do this is the scientist named Robert Whittaker. He classified organisms based on their cells and divided into 5 'kingdoms.'Those are Animals, Plants, Fungi, Prokaryotes and Protoctists.
  • First, I will explain the Animalia or animals kingdom. They are multicellular, eukaryotic creatures and have no cell wall or chloroplast. They are heterotrophic meaning they feed on organic substances made from other living organisms. The Plantae or plants kingdom which are multicellular organisms which have a nucleus, cell wall and chloroplast and they make their ownfood using photosynthesis.
  • Next is Fungi kingdom. Almost every kind is multicellular except for yeast which is unicellular, they have a nucleus, cell wall but no chlorophyll. They feed by saprophytic or parasitic nutrition. Saprophytic means they feed on decomposed matter and parasitic is living in an organism which is already living.
  • Then, we have Protista or Protoctists kingdom. These are multicellular (kelps) or unicellular (paramecia), contain nucleus, some have cell walls and chloroplasts and some are autotrophic (make their own food) and heterotrophic. Lastly there is a Bacteria kingdom. These are often single celled, no nucleus, have cell wall and no mitochondria. This organism is around us everyone but you would require a microscope to view it
  • So.. that's it. Those were the five kingdoms of classification and these vast organisms are all classified into suitable kingdoms which coexist in our world. I will now say goodbye...
  • THE END
