The Evolution of Food and Shelters.

- Hi! I'm Gronk, and I am going to teach you about food in the past.
- Hi! I'm Noel, and I am going to teach you about shelters in the past.
- Right now, we are Hunter Gatherers.
- At this time, we live in caves or tent-like structures. Our homes are also temporary.
- Now, Gronk and I live in a cave. We are also Nomadic.
- Speaking of Nomadic, that's what hunter-gatherers could be described as. Since we were Nomadic, we had to follow our food wherever it went.
- After some time, we learned how to grow crops.
- Gronk is going to tell us how food evolved from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic age. Noel is going to tell us how food evolved from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic age.
- Eventually, we learned how to make houses.
- Right now, Gronk and Noel's shelters are temporary because they are nomads. Nomads are the people who had to move where animals went in order to receive food. Hunter-Gatherers are food collectors. Also, they didn't have a stable food supply either.
- We then finally learned how to domesticate animals.
- Later on, we figured out how to live in communities!
- Being Nomadic wasn't easy. When the food supply ran low, the people had to move into different shelters in order to find more animals to eat. From time to time, they wouldn't have food for days, even weeks!
- I'm Gronk.
- And this was the evolution of food and shelters!
- And I'm Noel.
- Most of the time, people used mud bricks packed together to build houses. They also added stones and tree branches to strengthen the walls and roof. Since Hunter-Gatherers were able to grow crops, they earned the name "Farmer". This ability enabled them to obtain food quicker since people didn't have to be Nomads anymore.
- Since they have a permanent home, Gronk and Noel are now settled! Also, in the Neolithic age, people started to learn about Agriculture. Agriculture is the business of farming and obtaining animals for help on the farm. For example, farmers could use mules for carrying heavy loads and pulling plows. They could also use goats, sheep, and cattle for meat.
