- Exposition: In the exposition Della the main character is introduce and in a predicament, she does not have enough money for a Christmas gift.
- Conflict:The conflict in the story is that Della only has $1.87 and tomorrow is Christmas day.
- Rising Action: Della is on a search to find money for a present to she goes to sell her hair.
- Mne. Sofronie. Hair Goods of AllKinds
- Climax: Della is now cutting her old hair and has received $20 for doing so. She now has enough to buy a Christmas present for Jim.
- WATCHS & MORE
- Falling Action: Della has $20 now and got Jim a gold watch band for his prized possession which is his watch.
- Resolution: Jim and Della exchange gifts and realize what they did for each other to get their gifts .
