- We're goin' back and turn ourselves in..
- WHAT??!
- Help, Help!!
- We started it. We started it. We started it!
- I'll get them, you kids stay out!
- That roof's gonna cave in any minute. Forget those blasted kids!
- Help!!
- After driving back from Dairy Queen, Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy, it was quiet for a while until Johnny announced that they were going to turn themselves into the police. Dally was shocked and explained that jail was not a good place to be.
- *sirens*
- At the top of Jay Mountain, the church was suddenly on fire! Ponyboy and Johnny ran towards it, and heard a slight screaming of the lost children from the picnic inside. All Ponyboy could think about was that he started the fire.
- Take it easy, kid. You're in an ambulance. We think Dally will be okay. Johnny, well, I don't know about him. He might have a broken back, and was burnt pretty well. I swear, you three are the bravest kids I've seen in a long time
- They found the kids huddled in a corner of the back of the church, and one by one, they threw the kids out of the window to save them. Ponyboy and Johnny were surprisingly not scared of being inside the church.
- Darry! I'm so sorry
- Pony, where have you been all this time? I thought we lost you.. Like Mom and Dad.
- Ponyboy leaped out of the window, the last thing he remembered was Johnny screaming and Dally hitting him on the back to get the fire off of him. Dally had to drag Johnny out of the window, and Johnny was burned pretty badly and possibly broke his back.
- Ponyboy woke up in an ambulance after passing out. He asked what happened to Dally and Johnny. Dally burned his arm, And Johnny was very burned and wasn't doing too well. The ambulance guy said that they were some of the bravest kids he's seen in a while.
- Where am I? Are Johnny and Dally alright?
- Darry and Sodapop finally got to see Ponyboy after a very long time. Ponyboy was very sorry for leaving. And he suddenly realized that Darry was crying. Darry thought that he had lost Ponyboy just like their parents.
