- Wow! My new invention discovered these little circles. I will call them cells.
- Theodor Schwann
- You are the base unit of all organisms.
- In 1855, Virchow published Omnis cellula e cellular. In this, he stated that a whole organism doesn't get sick but only certain cells or groups of cells. He discovered this by discovering that all diseases involve changes in normal cells.
- Robert Brown
- I'm going to take some pollen samples to observe.
- Hooke created the microscope in the late 1600s. This invention led to the discovery of cells in 1655 and naming the cell. He discovered cells after creating the microscope. He would use it on all types of things. He found out organisms always have little shapes when you zoom in. He did more research and then got to his conclusion.

- Incredible! More cells in plant tissue. It must be there every time.
- Schwann discovered that both plants and animals are both made up of cells. He was also one of the first people to start calling cells the base unit of organisms. He discovered this by doing studies on the notochord.
- Cell Theory
- We are all so different but we are all made up of cells.
- Brown discovered Brownian Motian which is his description of cell nuclei and of the continuous motion of minute particles in solution. He did this by studying pollen grains suspended in water under a microscope.
- Schleiden was a co-founder of the cell theory after discovering all plant tissue has cells. Just a year later he also discovered all animal tissue has cells too. He did this by observing through his microscope.
- The cell theory states that all biological organisms are composed of cells; cells are the unit of life and all life comes from preexisting life. The cell theory is one of the most accepted theories in biology.
