  • TRANSPORTATION INVENTIONS FROM THE 1800s
  • The Erie Canal was used to transport people and goods in a short amount of time for a convenient amount of money.
  • The way the canal worked was that once the boat got to it’s destination there were horses on land who got tied to the boat and would pull it into a section of water that was blocked by gates so that when it opened and closed the water filled up inside that section. This helped the people or stuff in the boat because they were able to get high up above from the water and touch the land so it was easier for them.
