- Odysseus and Telemachus put the weapons in the storage room.
- Book Twenty
- Odysseus is now talking to Penelope and gets a foot wash. Eurycleia finds out Odysseus is himself but keeps it a secret.
- A Sight of What's to Come
- Penelope and Odysseus talk. She declares that she is going to hold a contest, and whoever wins is who she'll marry.

- Odysseus walks in the hall again after conversing with Eumaeus and Philoetius.
- A Suitor, Ctessipus, throws a cow foot at Odysseus to make fun of him. Telemachus comes up and yells at him making the suitors laugh at his lousy threat.
- Theoclymenus sees a horrifying scene, blood everywhere and runs out, thinking that the gods have something bad prepared for the suitors.
