After not only meeting Tom's mistress, Myrtle the wife of the owner of the gas station..... Jordan tells him about Daisy's and Gatsby's past and their love story. Nick later decides that he will help them reunite so he invited Daisy over for tea without Tom. After leaving them alone for half an hour they have catched up and figure out they are still in love.
The Goodbye
After Nick introduced Gatsby to Tom and Tom to Gatsby, Gatsby decided it would be a great idea to invite them to his next party. He also thought it would allow Tom to gain more trust and he would spend more time with Daisy. During the party it turned out that Daisy didn't like Gatsby's parties so to make her feel better he decided to fire all his employees and stops making parties.
Bereavement
After Gatsby's death Nick decides to make a funeral for Gatsby. hardly anyone attends, Tom and Daisy leave for vacation before it. Meyer Wolfsheim who started Gatsby on business can't attend either but he tells Nick about Gatsby and how it all started. But then in the funeral Nick meets Gatsby's father,Mr Gatz , who tells him about Gatsby and also makes great company. He also shows him a book Gatsby kept when he was younger with a written self improvement schedule back when he was just James Gatz, his real name.
After everything Nick has been going through with Gatsby's death he decides that its best if he moves back to the Midwest. Nick also breaks up with Jordan by the phone because once again he thinks it's best.
