  • Arithmetic Density
  • Hi I am Joe and 5 people live in this square km of land right here.
  • Physiological Density
  • Why hello there, about 3000 people live on the banks of these rivers. Very good for irrigation and farming I'll tell ya.
  • Agricultural Density
  • Sadly I'm the only farmer living in this area. I wish I had friends.
  • Arithmetic Density tells us about how many people live in a certain area. Using this we can figure out how dense or sparse populated a certain region or a country is. As geographers this lets us know how many people live in a certain area so we can compare areas around the world.
  • Physiological Density tells us about the number of people supported by a unit area of arable land. Using this we can figure out how much people live in arable parts of their country. Knowing this geographers can see how many people live in a certain area of arable land and how many do not in certain cases.
  • Agricultural Density is the ratio of the number of farmers to arable land. Using this we can see how poor or developed a certain country is because they have more or less density of farmers per arable land. As geographers we can see how rich or poor a certain country is because if they have more farmers then they usually have less good equipment and live in a relatively poor country vice versa.
