  • Man, this stinks. We need to get off this island!
  • Yeah, yeah, I know pops.
  • Listen to me, this is dangerous!
  • Daedalus, a great Greek inventor, is held captive on the island of Crete by King Minos with his son, Icarus.
  • Weeeeeee!
  • In an effort to get off the island, Daedalus created 2 pairs of wings!
  • With the wings, Daedalus and Icarus could escape the island. But, he needed to warn Icarus of the dangers of flying. He warned Icarus that if he flew too low, the water would rust the wings. And if he flew too high, the sun would melt the wax. Icarus agreed to be safe in the air.
  • After all the rules were stated, Daedalus and Icarus used their wings to fly off the island, and they soared across the ocean.
  • As they flew over the ocean, Icarus swerved left to right. He loved flying, because he felt so free. He laughed and rose up towards the sun. Daedalus grew frantic and yelled a warning to Icarus, but Icarus could not hear. He kept flying up towards the sun. Soon, the wax holding the wings together started to melt, and the wings broke. Icarus screamed for his father as he plunged into the ocean and died.
  • AHHHHH! FATHER, HELP!
  • Daedalus sadly flew all the way back to his home in Sicily safely, without his son. When he got there, he saw small, white feathers floating in the river. He picked one up and cried. He could still hear Icarus screaming his name as he plunged into the ocean.
