- I like so much this house because is so wonderfull and spacious
- Yes is big and old
- I´am just reading some french literature books
- What are you doing brother?
- I hear something really weird on the back of the house
- I think the other part of the house is taken over
- The story opens with the narrator and his sister, Irene, living together in the large old house that has been in the family since their great-grandparents’ time.The house is so large that the narrator and Irene don’t even use the back section, which is separated from the front by a heavy oak door.
- No brother
- Irene can you sleep?
- Take my hand, Irene. LETS GO AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE!
- Irene spends much of her time knitting. The narrator reads and rereads from his collection of French literature.They didn't have to earn their living, there was plenty coming in from the farms each month, even piling up.
- The sounds are getting closer to us!!!!
- One night, the narrator goes to the kitchen and he starts to hear weird sounds coming closer.The narrator tells his sister Irene about the sounds, and she calmly replies that they will have to live in the other part of the house.
- I have fifteen thousand pesos in the bedroom closet, but there is nothing I can do!
- During the day, the siblings are safe on the new side of the house, but they miss their old belongings.At night, they are scared and fearful of the noises they hear, so they have a difficult time sleeping.
- The disturbing noises get closer and louder to the siblings. They are so scared and decide to run away from the house without looking back.
- The two of them leave the house.Before they left, they felt terrible; so the narrator locked the front door up tight and tossed the key down the sewer.
