The Friar's tale is the 7th story in the Canterbury Tales.
Climax
The summoner is on his way to extort money from a widow. He plans to trick her.
Falling Action
The yeoman tells the summoner that he is actually a demon after they had exchanged their secrets of their respective trades and swore brotherhood. They make a vow to share what they get.
Resolution
They come upon a carter whose horses got temporarily stuck. Frustrated, he says the demon can take the horses.
The Summoner claims he will do better than the demon. He also demands the widow to give him a new pan in payment for old debt falsely claiming he paid a fine to get her off a charge for adultery. Enraged, the woman curses the summoner to hell unless he repents his false charges.
The summoner doesn't have any tenancy to repent so the demon takes the summoners body and soul to hell.
