  • In the Neolithic period, people exchange a lot of things. This is called the barter system. Some popular trade goods were obsidian and hematite.
  • During the Paleolithic period, there wasn't any barter system. The barter system was origin in the Neolithic period. People exchange mainly obsidian because it made excellent blades.
  • For us, the most famous Paleolithic art are cave paintings. The most common themes in cave paintings are large wild animals. For example, bison, horses and deer. They are mostly made of red or black pigments. The red pigments were made of hematite. Whereas the black pigment are made of manganese dioxide and charcoal.
  • In the Neolithic period, it is way different. Other than wall painting, we also had pottery. The pottery were used for religious rituals, cooking and for storing food. Pottery first appeared in the East Asia. The pottery created are usually decorated using a range of colour pigments or they are often created using patterns.
  • We use stone, bones, and wood to make tools. The first person to use tools was Australopitheus. We use them as weapons but sometimes we use them in our daily life too. For instance, we use blade to scrape animal hides, axes to shop wood, bone, and other materials.
  • The tools in the Paleolithic Age is really cool! But I personally think that our tools are better since they are more sophisticated. We've invented many tools such as the sickle blade, the stone axe, and the adzes. Some of the tools that we invent can be really helpful in our daily life. For example, the sickle blade can help us to harvest the crops.
