Echo and Narcissus
Storyboard Text
- Liriope, a water nymph gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Narcissus. She was told he would live a long peaceful life as long as he never "came to know himself"
- Narcissus was so beautiful that everyone around him fell in love with him, but to Narcissus there was nobody good enough.
- One nymph in specific, Echo became madly in love with Narcissus. She would follow him around but he payed no attention to her and made it clear he did not want Echo.
- Narcissus became inseperable from his reflection in the river. So much so that he stopped eating and soon after died. He came to know himself and that was the end of him. In the spot wheree Narcissus had passed a flower grew, and it was called Narcissus, in honor of the boy who fell in love with himself.
- One day the goddess Hera cursed Echo so that the only way she could speak was by repeating what others said.
- Soon enough Narcissus was also cursed by an angry Nemesis who had grown tired of his ego. She cursed him by making him fall in love with his own reflection.
