Storyboard Text

  • Hello Ms. García, can I ask you something about the tradition of your country when November 1 comes?
  • Sure! Ms. Reyes, since it's my day off being a mom. Haha!
  • Would you like me to share my country's tradition first when November 1 comes? So that we can share and introduce our country as well.
  • Why not! That sounds good.
  • In the Philippines, the tradition when November 1 comes, some are going to the cemetery to visit their loved ones and sleep there until November 1, and some are going to the cemetery on November 1 to stay there and eat their foods.
  • Ohhh, it is the same as our tradition in Mexico. We also go to the cemetery and visit our loved ones. But in Mexico, we have the Dia de Los Muertos it is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2.
  • What are the things happening in Dia de Los Muertos?
  • Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the dead is a two-day holiday that reunites the living and dead. They paint their faces and dress up as "catrinas." They spread marigolds around their houses and the cemeteries.
  • Ohhh, I see since Spain colonized our country, there are a lot of things similar to our countries.
  • Yes, that's why there are a lot of Catholics in the Philippines and Mexico.
  • Ms. García, thank you for having a conversation with us. I'm hoping we'll be able to continue our talk next time. Goodbye, Ms. García, and be safe.
  • No problem Ms. Reyes. I'm hoping too for our talk next time. Also, thank you for this conversation. Goodbye and always be safe
