Storyboard Text
During this time, the only atmosphere was formed from the gases that came out of volcanoes (mainly greenhouse gases)
Early Atmosphere
4.6 billion years ago
The first organisms, formed by complex chemical reactions, started photosynthesizing and producing oxygen.
Archean Eon
4-2.5 billion years ago
2.6 billion-400 million years ago
Oxygen At Last
Eventually there was enough oxygen to react with both the atmosphere and irons to turn the sky blue and create the first oxides.
The was so much oxygen in the air that all non-oxygen using animals died, and resulted in an explosion of both sea and land life.
Oxygen Boom
700-500 million years ago
The oxygen levels surpassed those of our current age, and large trees and plants were able to flourish.
Age of Oxygen
400-299 million years ago
The oxygen in the atmosphere was slightly reduced with the boom of life, but now we are currently resting at a good amount of oxygen.
Current Age
290 million years ago-now
Over 30 Million
