Storyboard Text

  • Anyone can suggest a Idea of a law that will become a bill and
  • Copies of the idea are give to the Legislators (House or Senate) and they can propose it as a bill for consideration
  • A Bill assigned to committee where they can research the bill and may hold public meetings
  • A Bill voted on by a committee; engross, veto, or amend
  • Once a bill is passed it gets voted on by the floor (The entire house)
  • Once a bill gets passed by one house it must go to the other house and has the same 3 options
  • Great here comes the Princess and her crazy animals
  • The exact same version of the a bill must be passed by both house of Rep and the Senate
  • If the houses passed 2 different versions of the bill then a conference committee will work out a compromise and will revote to approve on the bill
  • Once both houses pass majority vote, the bill goes to the Governor
  • In order to pass each house, a bill must get a majority vote
  • If vetoed, the Legislature may, by ⅔ vote of each house, override the veto and the bill becomes a law
  • Governor may sign the bill, veto it, or let it become a law without signature
  • And that's how a bill becomes a law!
