  • "Indian Removal" in the Southeast- The Indian Removal Act
  • Indian Removal Act of 1830 affecting Native groups around Georgia
  • Andrew Jackson
  • Texas- The Alamo
  • Texans
  • 1836
  • Mexicans
  • This event is significant to the Americans and white settlers, because it gave them a lot more land which meant more slaves because the more crops you grow, the need for slaves will increase because slaves are the only way for white settlers to grow and harvest crops. On the other hand, the Louisiana purchase didn’t benefit groups of Native Americans because White settlers pushed them off their land resulting in loss of land, food, culture, and animals.
  • War with Mexico-The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
  • America and Mexico signing the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in Guadalupe Mexico in 1848
  • Jefferson actually sent people over to agree to the treaty instead of him traveling to France to do it himself.
  • This event is significant to white settlers in Georgia because it provided them with a lot more land for their crops which boosted the economy in the south. Even though “Indian Removal” in the Southeast benefited the whites, it also severely damaged Native American groups including the Cherokees by forcing them to move off their land and onto reservations which also greatly lessened their population, resources, land, and money.
  • Oregon Territory-
  • President Polk and Great Britain agreeing to the oregon treaty in 1846 in Washington D.C
  • This event is significant to Texans because even though they lost the battle, the battle cry, “Remember the Alamo,”was famously chanted by Sam Houston’s army when they attacked Santa Anna's army on the San Jacinto River as revenge for the defeat they had endured at the Alamo. This event is also significant to the Mexican army because it was a turning inthe war even though the Texans lost because it gave them determination to takedown the Mexican Army which eventually resulted in Santa Ana getting jailed and forced to sign the peace treaty with Texas.
  • American Indian and "Westward Expansion" The Transcontinental Railroad
  • Transcontinental railroad late 1800's
  • Americans shooting bison to move Native Americans off their land
  • This event is significant to Americans because it provided them with almost all of western United States for expansion which provided them with more resources including gold and new animals to hunt. This war not only affected Americans, but it greatly affected Native Americans because White settlers didn’t want to deal with Native Americans,so they found ways to move and kill them, resulting in loss of population, food, land, resources, and money.
  • This event is significant to Native Americans because they were forced to migrate to reservations, and they lost resources, belongings, and the reservations they moved to didn’t have a lot of land compared to what they used to have. Even though Native Americans didn’t benefit from this, Americans gained a lot more territory for trade, hunting, and most importantly, money.
  • This event is significant to native Americans because Americans took away what their lives were built around which resulted in loss of tools, clothes, and food. This event is also significant to Americans because it ended up giving them a way of transportation across most of the country and they successfully pushed Native Americans off their land giving them more room to grow.
