- I can’t wait to have fun with my two new friends from class – Mike and Jon !
- Oh no, I am sure they won't be as fun as Mike and Jon.
- Hi, I'm Matt. Would you like some Oreos? So what do you like to do?
- Yikes, we're so different! This is going to be a horrible day!
- I am allergic to cookies. I love reading. The thicker the book the better. I hate the water.
- Our Secondary 1 Kayaking Day had finally arrived. My classmates and I boarded the excursion bus gleefully.
- Wow! Raj is really determined to do this well. I am so impressed.
- I finally know how to do this! Let's go faster, Matt.
- Due to social distancing measures, we were divided into small groups of eight. I was so disappointed to be in a group with seven boys I barely knew.
- For someone who hates water, you are really good at treading water.
- I guess I have strong legs because I cycle a lot. I cycle 30km every weekend.

- After an ice-breaker game, the Camp Leader paired us up. I had hoped to be paired with Tom as he looked strong and sporty, and would be a great kayak partner. However, my partner was a quiet, small-sized boy named Raj.
- Shall we go cycling together during the March school holidays?
- That sounds great! And we can have a chicken rice after that.
- The Camp Leader took 5 minutes to coax nervous Raj to get into the kayak. I felt annoyed that we had to wait for him. During the lesson, Raj’s paddle would knock into mine every time he tried to do a backward stroke. Yet he persevered.
- The Camp Leader then taught us how to tread water in the sea, so that we could learn how to stay afloat should we fall off the kayak.Treading water in the cold sea is not easy!
- Hey, I love cycling too! Where do you go cycling?

- After camp, Raj and I chatted happily as we took the train home. We found out we both like art, chicken rice, and that we lived quite close to each other. Who would have thought I would have made friends with a quiet bookworm who hates water and can’t eat Oreo cookies?
