- Mountain Men in Oregon Country
- I am sure that those will sell for a lot.

- The Oregon Trail
- How much longer until we get to Oregon?
- It should only be a few more days.
- Manifest Destiny
- We are destined by God to move west.
- Mountain men explored the west and lead settlers there.  They contributed to the westward expansion by convincing other white settlers to move there.
- Mexican American War
- The Rio Grande is ours!
- Pioneers traveled west on the Oregon Trail.  This one, along with other trails helped westward expansion since it provided a route for pioneers to travel across.
- Mormons in Utah
- Manifest Destiny is the idea that the United States is destined by god to expand its territory and sperad its demorcacy across North America.  It contributed to the westward expansion because Americans used it to justify why they wanted to move west and it caused more of them to go westward. 
- California Gold Rush
- We will get so rich!
- The Mexican-American war was over land, the Rio Grande river, and parts of what is now the western United States, America won the war and got California and New Mexico.  This helped westward expansion since winning this land caused American settlers to travel to it.
- Mormons are a religious group founded by Joseph Smith in 1830, the Mormons angered non-Mormons so they moved west.  Mormons in Utah helped the westward expansion by setting up a refuge there which caused many Mormons to head west. 
- Utah will be the perfect place for us.
- John Stutter discovered gold on his land in northern California, the news spread to San Francisco and many people were excited about the gold.  This helped westward expansion because many people traveled to California after that in an effort to find gold.
