- The 10 commandments were The Ten Commandments were written by God upon two tablets of stone and then given to Moses on Mount Sinai.God spoke"You shall have no other God's before me. You shall make no idols. You shall not take the Lord your God's name in vain. You shall keep the Sabbath day holy. You shall honour your mother and father. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour. You shall not covet."
- Forty years of wandering in the wilderness had brought Israel to stand upon a mountain top overlooking the land of promise. Forty years before this time, God had told the children of Israel,"I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which brings you into the land, concerning the which I did swear to give you for an heritage. I am the Lord."
- Israel started to worship other God's. The Lord wasn't happy. Moses said to the Lord,"For I the Lord your God , am a jealous God ."So Moses said, "I have seen these people and indeed it is a stiff-necked people! Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them."
