  • Welcome to the History of RB Music
  • The term RB was actually first coined in 1948 by a man named Jerry Wexler. It was a loose term used to describe the sounds that were coming out of the African American community during the '40s (before that, the genre was controversially referred to as 'race music').
  • Did You Know.....
  • This music is jamming!!!
  • RB kept the tempo and the drive of jump blues, but its instrumentation was sparer and the emphasis was on the song, not improvisation.
  • RB Legends
  • if you like it then you shouda put a ring on ituh oh, uh oh , uh oh, oh no no
  • The history and evolution of music genres are always connected to historical events, and this is particularly evident with rhythm and blues. You may instantly think of artists like Usher, TLC, Beyoncé, or Chris Brown. But as soon as you scratch the surface, you’ll discover that classic RB was more jazz-rock-oriented than contemporary RB, which incorporates more hip-hop and electronic sounds. There seems to be an abyss between classic RB and modern RB, especially when directly comparing early soul singers to those pf the last decade. However, the links are still there, and once you learn how the genre has evolved, the connections suddenly become more evident.
