- Hester and Pearl walk through the forest
- Hester thinks she should just lay down and die
- Hester and Dimmesdale talk about Chillingsworth
- Hester and her daughter Pearl were walking through the forest in search of Dimmesdale. Since Hester knew he would be going down that path.
- They join hands by the brook
- Hester thinks she should just lay down and die at Dimmesdale's feet. She would rather die instead of be in this situation. She doesn't like the way it turned out.
- Hester and Dimmesdale wonder where pearl is.
- Hester and Dimmesdale are talking about how evil Chillingsworth is and that he knows about Dimmesdale's A. They are also concerned that he knows she is going to expose his true character.
- Pearl decorated herself with flowers
- Hester and Dimmesdale are in a secluded area near the brook joined hands talking about the way their lives are going.
- Hester realizes pearl isn't by them anymore and wonders where she is, but Dimmesdale sees her in the distance.
- Pearl gets bored while the adults are talking and wanders off and decorates herself with leaves and flowers.
