- Rita is a 12-year-old girl who simply loves the digital world but she had been facing a few issuesonline due to which she was feeling quite low. Rita goes for therapy where she feelscomfortable talking to her therapist, Ms. Sophia.
- Rita: Umm, I do not think so. Well, I guess there was a person who called me a complain box. Later during English, a group of children were teasing me, saying that I was not “Girly! But I was a boy" They say this because I am a part of theDebate team.
- Ms. Sophia: So, anything new today? Did anything happen thatyou would like to share?
- I had lost my focus after all this teasing and I was unable to do well for debating. Then theother team made fun of me and said that, “I am not supposed to be in the debate class, because I am agirl.
- Ms. Sophia: Oh, wow. Let us tackle each problem separately.
- Rita: Okay :(
- Rita ( in anger): I was simply telling ma’am about how everyone was chatting online during the class, which disturbed my friends and me!
- Ms. Sophia: First, tell me why did they call you a complain box?
- You could try approaching the one who is disturbing others, in a private conversation and let them know how their actions are disturbing you. This gives that person a sense that you are respecting them.
- . The next time, ask politely yet firmly, in the common chat to pleasekeep the chat quiet as it is disturbing. If that too does not work, then please raise it up with the teacherface to face. You are entitled to a quiet study time so it is alright to approach this is a respectful manner,standing up for what you need.
- Rita: Okay. I understand
