  • Colonies in the 1765 had to pay taxes on certain printed documents like newspaper and legal documents, which was called the Stamp Act passed by the Parliament. This act was to use the taxes to cover war costs and maintaining a defending army for the colonies.

  • Louis XVL called a meeting of all the three Estates Gerneral at Versailles to cast voting about seting up a constitutional government, which made the clergy and nobles to pay taxes as well; a few days later the third estate declared that the National Assembly would draft a constitution, where this meeting would have been held was locked so they meet at the door next to it, which was a tennis court, and swore to an oath known as the Tennis Court Oath.
