- Jay is a 16-year-old from the Ducts. Jay lives with his grandmother (Mimi) and his sister Nic. Jay normally keeps his phone on him because his sister is always in trouble with the neighborhood thug, Javon. Jay describes himself as the stereotypical hood black guy.

- We have a lot of cases right now
- Nic is a smart guy but Javon gets her in the most trouble. Javon hangs out with a group of guys that run the streets. One of Javon's boys is Kenny. Kenny and Nic are very close that she even goes to him when she and Javon are having problems. Jay worries about his sister coming home every day. Although he hates to admit it, he cares for his sister a lot.
- I didn't have Nic's phone but I know who gave it to me
- Riley and Jay have known each other for years because they attended the same church. Riley is the preacher's daughter. She wears skirts down to her ankles, dresses like it's 90 degrees, and has converses in every color. Riley and Jay try to deny their feelings for each other as they start to get closer.
- Jay? Why are you here?
- Nic is that really you?
- All of a sudden Nic goes missing. Normally this is what she does but once she's gone for 2 weeks. Jay starts to worry. Jay starts to think about if he just answered Nics call when she needed him. Jay tries to go to the police and talk to Nic's close friend. Nic is the type of person to leave without saying anything but this time its different.
- Bowie ( a friend of Javon and Jay) ends up with Nic's phone. Javon takes the phone away from him and gets arrested because they suspect he killed her. Bowie lets Jay know that some frat guys gave it to him. Jay, Riley, and Bowie go to a frat party to get answers.
- Jay finds Nic in a locked room in the frat boys' house. They had left Nic in there with barely any food and killed Kenny. Nic and Jay run away putting up a fight with the frat boys. The police soon find them and arrest the guys that killed Kenny and kidnapped Nic.
